Radio Use Only

Friday, July 21st, 2006

How many of you out there had a favorite radio station you listened to as a kid? Remember how closely you identified with them? You probably also remember that the stations would release record albums in the local market as give-aways or promotional items.

Well, a new site has hit the web that promises to be THE center of gravity for gathering together all of those album covers - from all across the country. It’s only getting started now, but if you have a few albums in your collection to contribute, I know they would love to hear from you. Check it out!

The One and Only

Thursday, August 12th, 2004

Everyone on the planet is familiar with the now infamous record album cover featuring a beautiful woman sitting in a pile of whipped cream. BUT, if you, for some reason, have never ventured into a thrift store and browsed the bins of old LPs, I can guarantee that if you get in your car RIGHT NOW and drive to the nearest Salvation Army, Goodwill or garage sale, you WILL spot a copy of this album.

Amazing but True!

When Did You Last Twist?

Thursday, July 1st, 2004

If you didn’t already know, I collect vinyl records. During one of my recent treasure hunts, I uncovered a copy of Parkway’s ‘Your Twist Party With The King Of Twist Chubby Checker’, from 1962, in pretty nice shape. As I cataloged the album, I enjoyed reading the 42 year old cover notes, and I reflected on how times have changed. Enjoy this flash from the past. [ more ]
